what looksake collects, why, who handles it, how long it’s kept, and how to delete it. this covers the looksake iPhone app and this website.
the short version.
- the photos you pick or take are sent through our server to Google’s Gemini, which finds the pieces, makes product photos and puts outfits together. our server doesn’t keep the photos.
- your closet, looks and photos live on your phone and in your own private iCloud.
- the app counts how it’s used, with no name, email, photos or anything you typed in it.
- no ads. no tracking across other apps or websites. we don’t sell your data.
- “delete everything” in the app deletes your account, your iCloud copy and the closet on your phone.
who we are.
looksake is made by Fluxa Ventures LLC (“we”). questions about this policy or your data: support@looksake.app.
what we collect, and why.
your account.
you sign in with Apple. our server keeps the anonymous user identifier Apple gives us for looksake, so it can keep your account, allowances and purchases together. Apple’s sign-in sheet may say it will share your name and email; looksake doesn’t read, keep or send either one. after you sign in, our server gives your phone a sign-in token. the server stores only a one-way hash of it, and it expires 90 days after you last use it.
photos.
you choose photos with the iPhone photo picker, so looksake never gets access to the rest of your library. you can also take photos with the camera in the app. the photos you choose or take are resized and saved as new JPEGs on your phone, then sent to our server, which passes them to Google’s Gemini to:
- find the pieces of clothing in a fit pic and describe them (name, category, colour, material, brand if one is visible);
- match pieces to ones already in your closet;
- turn a close-up into a clean product photo;
- read a piece you photograph in a store.
our server doesn’t store photos. it keeps two things about them: the descriptions of the pieces found in a photo, for 30 days, so a retry doesn’t run it again; and a one-way fingerprint of each photo, so the same photo doesn’t use up your allowance twice.
styling and packing.
to make outfits and packing plans, the app sends our server, and Gemini, a text list of your confirmed pieces (names, categories, colours, materials, brands, occasions, seasons), the weather, and for a trip the destination you typed, the dates and what’s on. no photos.
your closet.
your pieces, looks, fit pics, product photos, outfits, collections and trips are stored on your phone. when you’re signed in to iCloud, they sync to your private iCloud database through Apple’s CloudKit, so they’re on your other devices and survive a new phone. that copy is in your iCloud account, not on our server.
weather and location.
if you allow location access, the app uses your approximate location (to about a kilometre) to get the weather from Open-Meteo, a weather service. when you log a fit from an earlier day, the app uses the location saved in that photo, if it has one, to look up that day’s weather. trip destinations you type are looked up with Open-Meteo too. these requests go from your phone straight to Open-Meteo. our server gets the weather (temperature and conditions), never your location, and looks keep only the temperature and conditions, not where the photo was taken.
purchases.
plus and the trip pass are bought through Apple. we never see your payment details. the app sends our server Apple’s signed receipt for each purchase, and Apple can notify our server about renewals, cancellations and refunds. our server keeps the purchase and subscription identifiers, the product, and the purchase and expiry dates, to know what you’ve paid for. purchases carry an anonymous account token derived from your Apple identifier, so a renewal reaches the right account.
how the app is used.
the app sends our server usage events, such as onboarding steps, fits logged, “style this” used, pieces found, named or merged, paywall views and purchases, share cards and closet exports, and whether iCloud sync is on. each event comes with the time, your plan (free or plus), the app version, your language and region setting, your App Store country, and how many days since you installed. events are tied to a random install ID and, once you’re signed in, to a salted one-way hash of your account, never your Apple identifier itself. events can’t carry free text, names of pieces, photos, your email or your location. we also record what each AI request cost us, per hashed account, and subscription events from Apple (product, price, currency, App Store country) with a hashed transaction ID. our server doesn’t store the IP address of app requests. we use all of this to see what works in the app and to keep costs in check.
this website.
if you join the launch list, we store your email, the time you signed up, your country (from Cloudflare, two letters), and the campaign tags in the link you came from, if any (utm source, medium, campaign and content). we use your email only to send you the launch link. to stop abuse, the form limits sign-ups per IP address: it keeps a one-way hash of your IP for 10 minutes and never stores the IP itself. the site sets no cookies and has no analytics or third-party scripts.
who else handles it.
we share data only with the services that run looksake, and only what each one needs:
- Google (Gemini API) receives the photos you choose or take and the text described above, to return pieces, product photos, outfits and packing plans.
- Cloudflare runs our server and this website, and stores the server data described here.
- Apple handles sign-in, iCloud sync and purchases.
- Open-Meteo receives your approximate location, a photo’s location or a typed destination, to return the weather. it doesn’t receive your account or anything in your closet.
we may also disclose data if the law requires it.
how long we keep it.
- your closet: on your phone and in your iCloud until you delete it.
- piece descriptions from a photo: 30 days on our server.
- photo fingerprints, allowances, purchase records: until you delete your account.
- sign-in tokens: 90 days after last use, or until you sign out or delete your account.
- usage events: about 3 months, then removed automatically.
- launch-list emails: until you ask us to remove yours.
deleting your data.
in the app, you → delete everything. after you confirm with Apple, it deletes your account on our server (your allowances, purchase records, photo fingerprints, saved piece descriptions and every sign-in), then the copy in your iCloud, then everything on your phone, and signs you out. it needs a connection and can’t be undone. it doesn’t cancel a plus subscription; cancel that in your Apple subscription settings.
usage events already recorded aren’t deleted, because they hold no name, email or photos; they’re removed automatically after about 3 months. to get off the launch list, or for any other request about your data, email support@looksake.app. you can also take a copy of your closet first: you → export my closet.
what we don’t do.
- no ads, and no advertising identifiers.
- no tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.
- no selling or renting your data.
- no access to your photo library beyond the photos you pick.
changes.
if this policy changes, we’ll update it here with a new effective date. questions: support@looksake.app.
